Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment
Shopping for a Medicare Advantage plan during open enrollment doesn’t have to be hard. iQuote can help you compare a choice of Medicare Advantage plans with one phone call.
The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment is what is commonly known as the annual enrollment period (AEP). The annual enrollment period is Oct. 15 – Dec. 7 of each year. During the Medicare Advantage open enrollment period you can switch Medicare Advantage plans or you can switch from a Medicare Supplement plan to a Medicare Advantage plan. Medicare Advantage enrollment can be very easy. Many of the companies offered through iQuote by Longevity Alliance provide electronic enrollment over the phone saving you time and paper!
Don’t confuse this with the Medigap open enrollment period. That is the 6 month period after which you are both 65 and older and enrolled in Medicre Part B. During this period an insurance company cannot use medical underwriting (health conditions), refuse to sell you any Medigap policy it offers, make you wait for coverage to start or charge you more for a Medigap policy.
There is also a disenrollment period for Medicare Advantage plans. If you found you chose the wrong plan, you have from Jan. 1 to Feb. 14 to leave your plan and switch to Original Medicare insurance (Part A and Part B).
An iQuote Medicare health plan advisor can help you sort out Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement plans and help you decide what type of plan is right for you. Request an iQuote or simply call us at 1-800-352-9742.
